CENTENARY INAUGURATION
On March 29th, the Terramar “Garden City” centenary was inaugurated with an event held at Hotel Melià Me, where the reissue of the magazine “Terramar” was presented, a volume that includes the fortnightly publication of art, lyrics and sports that was conceived as an advertising magazine for the urban project. Twenty-four issues had been published between 1919 and 1920. Afterwards, Ms. Vinyet Pañella gave a lecture on the origins of the Garden City project entitled “Terramar: a project for twentieth century Sitges”.
To celebrate the Centennial of the City-Garden of Terramar, 1919-2019, the Department of Culture, Traditions and Festivities of the City of Sitges organizes a cycle of cultural activities that will kick off on March 29 with the official inauguration.
Town planning; tourism; sports, art and literature, and natural environment. These are the four areas on which the programming will revolve to celebrate the Centennial of the City-Garden of Terramar, 1,919-2,019. The areas of what was the first garden city of Catalonia: Terramar.
The program, which will start on March 29 and end on September 15, will set sights that go beyond strictly cultural ones: sports and urbanism are protagonists, art and literature have their space, as well as the tourism sector and hotelier, and the natural environment.
